For the first concert of his two-year Bach journey, Yo-Yo Ma takes the stage at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside Denver, CO on August 1. The evening features a live performance of all six Bach cello suites.

On this new adventure, Yo-Yo Ma will share the suites with people seeking equilibrium and solace at a moment of unprecedented change. “Over the next few years,” he writes, “I will play all six suites in one sitting many times, in both familiar and unlikely locations on six continents. I share this music, which has helped shape the evolution of my life, with the hope that it might spark a conversation about how culture can be a source of the solutions we need.”

Accompanying the performance in Colorado will be an all-day event in Denver that seeks to put culture in action by bringing the community together with local organizations to address pressing social issues.
