On June 9, Yo-Yo Ma delivers the main address and receives an honorary degree at Dartmouth‘s 2019 commencement ceremony.

He returns to Dartmouth following his last visit as a Montgomery Fellow in spring 2018, when he met with students and led a lecture called “Culture, Understanding, and Survival.” Yo-Yo’s time in Hanover has also included performances with the Silkroad Ensemble.

Other 2019 honorary degree recipients include Richard Alderson, former Oakland Athletics general manager; France Córdova, astrophysicist and National Science Foundation director; Rebecca Heller, International Refugee Assistance Project executive director and co-founder; Hilary Tompkins, environmental attorney; and Tod Williams and Billie Tsien, architects and renovators of the Hood Museum of Art.
