On May 1, the day after his sold-out performance of Bach’s complete cello suites at the historic Huaca Pucllana in Lima, Peru, Yo-Yo Ma joined artist Olinda Silvano, women from the Shipibo-konibo community, and the Municipalidad de Lima to complete a mural in the city’s historical center. The collaboration marked the eleventh day of action in Yo-Yo’s ongoing Bach Project.

The public was invited to paint the final elements of the design while the lead artists, accompanied by Yo-Yo, sang traditional icaros – songs that transform the geometry at the mural’s foundation into music. The mural stands as a living landmark that honors the power of Amazonian resources and knowledge.
