Yo-Yo Ma returns to Tanglewood this August for collaborations with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Emanuel Ax, Colin Jacobsen, Christoph von Dohnányi, and more.

On August 3, 2017, Mr. Ma joins pianist Emanuel Ax, violinist/composer Colin Jacobsen, and mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton for a program comprising works by Schubert and a world premiere by Colin Jacobsen, part of the series “Schubert’s Summer Journey.” The series, curated by Mr. Ax, highlights music from Schubert’s final year alongside complementary works plus pieces inspired by the Romantic composer.

Yo-Yo Ma appears with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Christoph von Dohnányi for the Schumann Cello Concerto on August 6 at the Koussevitzky Music Shed. Audiences can attend an open rehearsal of the program on August 5.

August 17 sees Mr. Ma and Mr. Ax join violinist Pamela Frank and the Tanglewood Music Center Vocal Fellows for another concert in the “Schubert’s Summer Journey” series. They present the Arpeggione Sonata for cello and piano and the Piano Trio No. 2 in E-flat.
