Chicago Symphony Orchestra Music Director Designate Riccardo Muti and CSO Association President Deborah F. Rutter have appointed world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma to the newly created position of Judson and Joyce Green Creative Consultant, beginning in January 2010.
This appointment stands as a cornerstone of Maestro Muti’s vision for the CSO: to deepen the Orchestra’s engagement with the Chicago community, to nurture the legacy of the CSO while supporting a new generation of musicians, and to collaborate with visionary artists who will bring unparalleled musical experiences to the CSO’s audiences.
On his appointment, Ma said he is “honored to be collaborating with the staff and musicians of the CSO. Working together with Maestro Muti, we have an opportunity to make a real difference in the Chicago community.”
