Dear Friends,
I want to say publicly here that yesterday I went to my local music store and I now have a cello in my house because of Yo Yo Ma. Specifically, a few weeks back I watched the somber funeral of Sen. Kennedy and during an interlude he played the cello...it took my breath away, the first movement he played (which I don't know the name of) but it was if all the stars aligned in the universe, begging me, pleading with me to tame the lion. I have paid my dues on other instruments and had read about the cello...just by nature being odd in it's c g d a perfect fifth configuration. But what I saw that day in his playing hastened me to find my voice, my offering, my discipline, my willingness to become a humble student and aspire to play it and touch people like he did to me that day. I was mesmerized and I actually cried. It was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard any performer play anywhere live and it's why I'm here.

The cello sounds incredible in a wide open room with wood flooring, nice reverberation...so here I am and I'm ready.
